Anjarle – the lost village

A village called Anjarle, which has been in the same condition for ages, located in the Konkan side of Maharashtra India, has one of the best beaches in the country. You will not see more than 10 people on the beach. Water is crystal clear. View is magnificent. You can see the ‘Harne’ fort which was built by Shivaji Maharaj.

Apart from the beach, the village has the a beautiful Lord Ganesha temple, popularly known as ‘Kadyavarcha Ganpati’ by the locals and the tourists. This temple is probably the only place visited by tourists. That is the main reason that the village is completely untouched and still remains very beautiful and serene.

Other places worth visiting in the village are Durga Temple & Kaalbhairva Temple, Vimleshwar Temple.

The village produces awesome mangoes, jack-fruits and cashews during season time which is from April to June. Other times of the year you will be happy with lots of greenery.

If you are looking for a place where you find no mobile network, lots of trees, a beautiful beach and temples, this is the place to visit. There are some locals who offer stay and authentic food which you can easily get without prior booking.

Anjarle is an hour’s drive from Dapoli. So even if you are staying at Dapoli, you can go visit Anjarle for a day or two to see the real Konkan of Maharahstra.
